This book is interesting and extremely informative. If you suffer from mental illness--or are a caregiver for someone who does--perhaps the biggest gift of this book is that you will come away from the read feeling less alone. The illustrations are muted in color and remind you that night in settling in around the farm. Nigeria's megacity of Lagos is well known around the world, but this debut police procedural takes place a 10-hour car ride down the coast to the east, in the comparatively unknown Port Harcourt. Even though she smoked two packs of cigarettes a day, it never affected her voice. All of the "reveals" were pretty predictable, and hints about them were dropped with the subtlety of a sledgehammer except our heroine was supposedly not smart enough to figure it. Rachel, the main character, a psychologist, can't get it together with Jake, the awesome guy who loves her. However, her best friend, Eska, who is in love with her, accompanies them to Asgar’s home. I like it.
